Tuesday walk in Viðey
June 12th we take on the second weekly Tuesday walk in Viðey. In this tour a known ornitologist and bird photographer, Jóhann Óli Hilmarsson, will be our tourguide. Jóhann Óli is the author of the best seller "Icelandic bird guide" and has published a book on the Atlantic Puffin. Among common birds in Viðey are the eider, fulmar, greylag goose, snipe, purple sandpiper and oystercatcher.
During the summer time two extra ferry trips are added to Viðey island on Tuesdays, leaving from Skarfabakki at18:15 and 19:15. Viðeyjarstofa Café is open these evenings providing an opportunity for a lovely dinner for all visitors. The Café is open until the ferry goes back to Skarfabakki at 22:00.
Those not interested in guided tour in Icelandic can venture off on their own enjoying the islands beauty and serenity. The guided tour is free of charge and starts at 19:30 by Viðeyjarstofa. It takes about an hour and a half to two hours. Roundtrip to Viðey ISK 1000 for adults and ISK 500 for children 7- 15 years.
